Licences & notices
This page covers the ProScoro software licence, the sounds it ships with, and this website.
ProScoro software
© 2026 P Rana. Free to try in your browser for personal, non-commercial use. The Windows app comes with a paid licence; see Buy now. The full licence text is in the app's LICENSE file. It is a draft pending legal review. Open-source components used by the app are listed in its THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.
Bundled and optional sounds
The software licence does not restrict the sounds. They are original synthesis, CC0 1.0 recordings, one public-domain piano and one CC-BY 3.0 piano, as listed below. Each sound's source and licence is shown in the app (Foley Kit → Sources, About → Licences).
| Source | Licence | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| ProScoro original synthesis | Original work | Trailer Kit, most Foley, vehicles, modelled instruments |
| VSCO-2 Community Edition (Versilian Studios) | CC0 1.0 | Orchestral samples (optional pack) |
| VCSL (Versilian Community Sample Library) | CC0 1.0 | Percussion, tuned and FX layers (optional packs) |
| SoH Gamelan and bansuri recordings | CC0 1.0 | World instruments (optional packs) |
| Kenney audio packs | CC0 1.0 | Foley recordings (optional pack) |
| OpenGameArt items, each checked to be CC0-only | CC0 1.0 | Foley recordings (optional pack) |
| Salamander Grand Piano V3 by Alexander Holm (source) | CC-BY 3.0 | Concert Grand, Felt / Soft and Film Ambient pianos (optional pack). Modified for ProScoro: summed to mono, retuned, resampled to 48 kHz, 8 of 16 velocity layers, tails shortened. Attribution: "Salamander Grand Piano V3 by Alexander Holm, CC-BY 3.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/)". |
| City Piano by Big Cat Instruments (source) | Public domain (author's statement) | City Piano, a sampled baby grand (optional pack). The author states: "It is free and public domain. Do anything you like with it." Credited as a courtesy. |
| FreePats Upright Piano KW (source) | CC0 1.0 | Upright piano (optional pack). Summed to mono, resampled, tails shortened. |
Every pack file has a pinned SHA-256 and licence record. Since 0.29.44 the recorded pianos above are also listed.
Optional helper models
These models never write the music; ProScoro's templates and composition rules do. They only make suggestions you can accept or change. Both run on the CPU (no GPU needed) and only in the Windows download, not in the browser version. ProScoro includes no AI music generator.
| Model | Licence | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| jina-clip-v1 (Jina AI) | Apache-2.0 | Scene recognition: suggests a mood per scene. About 88 MB, downloaded and checked by SHA-256 the first time Score my scene analyses a video. Flagged for legal review. |
| Qwen2.5-1.5B-Instruct (Qwen team, Alibaba Cloud), GGUF | Apache-2.0 | Local cue-idea helper: suggests ideas, runs on your computer. About 1.1 GB, downloaded and checked by SHA-256; removable. An optional larger Qwen2.5-7B variant (Apache-2.0) is available on request. |
Your own libraries
SFZ libraries you load keep their own licences. ProScoro plays them from their folder and does not copy their sample files into projects, exports or packages. Audio you render with them follows the library's licence.
This website
- Icons and the ProScoro logo mark are original SVGs drawn for this site.
- Text uses your system's built-in fonts. No web fonts are loaded.
- Screenshots and the conductor clip are captures of ProScoro itself.
- Instrument illustrations (
assets/instruments/*.webp, the "Instruments inside" section): generated for ProScoro, own work: AI-generated studio renders made for this site (no third-party photos, artwork or rights). They are illustrations, not photos of the sampled instruments, and show no brands or logos. Backgrounds were removed with rembg (MIT licence) using its isnet-general-use model (Apache-2.0); neither is shipped with the site or the app. - Artist visuals added in website 0.29.50, all own work: the hero background and the "See it / Hear it" stills are frames from the public-domain films listed below, graded black-and-white with a lime tint by
scripts/build-site-visuals-0.29.50.py; the six mood cards are abstract artwork drawn procedurally by the same script (no photos, no AI image model, no brands); the four workflow pictures (assets/art/wf-*.webp) are a composite of one of those stills and crops of screenshots of ProScoro itself; the share image (assets/img/og-1200x630.png),favicon.icoandapple-touch-icon.pngare made from the ProScoro logo, a still and a ProScoro screenshot. The animated waveform is CSS. - The mood cues (
assets/audio/moods/*.mp3) were composed and rendered by ProScoro from its own built-in templates with the bundled CC0 / public-domain sounds listed above; no film audio and no AI audio model is used. - Since website 0.29.51 every instrument card has a picture. The original SVG icons drawn for this site (
assets/instruments/icons.svg) remain only as a fallback for a future instrument without one. Each instrument card says whether its sound is Recorded (samples from the packs above), Modelled (built by ProScoro from other recordings, filtered, pitch-shifted or layered, or by physical-model synthesis) or Synthesised (ProScoro's own synthesis). - The browser version's starter sound pack (about 18 MB) is a reduced copy of the CC0 VSCO-2 Community Edition samples used by its three demo presets (one velocity layer); other instruments load on demand from the same packs or play a synthesised stand-in.
- The 2-second instrument previews (
assets/instruments/audio/*.mp3) are single notes taken from the sound packs listed above, under those packs' licences (the Concert Grand note is from Salamander Grand Piano V3 by Alexander Holm, CC-BY 3.0); the sitar and tabla notes are ProScoro's own synthesis. - There are no third-party trackers or scripts. The site keeps cookieless, anonymous usage statistics (no IP addresses) and sets a cookie only for the administrator's sign-in; see Privacy.
- The browser version (
/demo/) is built from the ProScoro app itself and contains the same open-source packages as the download; their licences are listed in the download'sTHIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md. Its sounds are streamed from this site's own sample packs, with the sources and licences above. - "Pay with card" and "Pay with PayPal" are plain links to the payment provider's own hosted page. This site loads no payment script and never sees card details.
Film footage in screenshots
The picture panel in the app screenshots shows a still from a film that is in the public domain in the United States because it was published without a valid copyright notice, as the law then required. The clips were cut from copies on the Internet Archive, cropped to a wide-screen frame and played in ProScoro, and the screenshots were then captured from the running app. No audio from the films is used on this site.
Since website 0.29.50 the homepage also uses graded stills (no audio) from two more public-domain films. The D.O.A. copy used is a RetroFlix transfer.
